Learning

Horizon Learning Center uses an emergent curriculum focused on the individuals strengths, interests & developmental needs of each child within the class. The curriculum is research based and incorporates observation & assessment into our daily planning; the teacher observes each child throughout the week, documents their observations and creates a weekly plan of activities to meet each child’s needs. Individualization is an important part of our center that we believe strengthens each child’s skills.

Our activities are in the fields of:

  • Art
  • Science
  • Literacy
  • Math
  • Technology
  • Social Studies

We offer parent teacher conferences fall, winter and spring or as requested. During these conferences you will be provided with a developmental checklist, samples of writing and/or art, pictures and time to discuss the next steps for your child’s development.
Each classroom has a family information board which displays your child’s daily schedule and the weekly curriculum for your review.
Your child’s teacher will display evidence of learning in the classroom through pictures, art work, writing samples and much much more.
